- Cowboys sign OT Jason Peters to one-year contract
- I’m not sure exactly how much this deal is worth, as for now, Dallas is simply adding Peters to its practice squad. I would guess eventually Peters will be inserted into the lineup as the team’s left tackle, replacing the injured Tyron Smith. This is a good add for the Cowboys, though. The offensive line needed some work.

- Clemson 41 Georgia Tech 10
- Clemson’s overall roster talent should enable it to punish most opponents this season, but the offense still clearly has issues. The run game, despite having a talented runner like Will Shipley, looked mostly ineffective, and DJ Uiagalelei appeared as if he made very few strides from 2021. At some point, Dabo Swinney needs to install freshman Cade Klubnik as the team’s signal-caller. The Tigers have an easy next two games before what should be an interesting battle in Winston-Salem.
- Jeff Sims is fine as a quarterback and isn’t the problem for the Yellow Jackets. It’s unfair right now to expect Georgia Tech to compete with Clemson, but the program needs some building.

- Yankees 5 Twins 2
- At this point, Aaron Judge, perhaps along with some solid pitching, is single-handedly keeping the Yankees alive. Judge smashed his 54th homer of 2022 in this game, and if I had to go out on a limb, I’d say he gets 60. Realistically, though, the real question is whether or not Judge approaches McGwire and Sosa territory and hits 65 or more.
- Rays 4 Red Sox 3
- Xander Bogaerts might be making himself some money. A free agent following this campaign, the shortstop is slashing .317/.384/.469.
- Blue Jays 8 Orioles 4
- Have a day, Bo Bichette. Over the course of two games yesterday, Bichette smacked three home runs and drove in seven runs. It would certainly make the Blue Jays much more dangerous in the postseason if Bichette gets going, because his numbers this season are still the worst of his short career.
- Astros 1 Rangers 0
- The Rangers made some coaching and front office shakeups a bit ago, and it has NOT helped the club the immediate term. Losers of nine straight, Texas needs to figure out a path forward. It may be tough, though, as the Rangers committed tons of money to free agents this past winter, which may cap their spending this upcoming offseason.
- Guardians 6 Royals 5
- In order to advance in the postseason, the Guardians are going to need to upgrade their level of play. 69-64, along with a division lead, is fine, but it’ll be interesting to see if, and who, takes it to the next level this October for Cleveland.
- Angels 10 Tigers 0
- Aaron Judge is having a special season — no doubt about it, but it’s still hard for me to consider anyone for AL MVP other than Shohei Ohtani. After going 3-5 in this contest with two home runs, Ohtani is up to 7.9 fWAR in 2022. That figure doesn’t do the two-way superstar justice, though, as Ohtani has an immeasurable impact on the game.
