NFL

  • Chiefs 27 Chargers 24
    • Kansas City, after losing the likes of Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu this past offseason, isn’t quite as loaded as it’s been in the past, but that won’t matter if Patrick Mahomes continues to perform at this level. The Chiefs’ signal-caller was tremendous in this contest, going 24/35 for 235 yards and two scores. As long as guys such as Travis Kelce, Creed Humphrey, and Chris Jones also continue to play like blue chippers, the Chiefs should be in a good place. The team likely won’t run away with the AFC West, but there’s no question they’re the prohibitive favorite after just two games.
    • The Chargers, over the past 20 or so years, have lost an abnormally high number of games in which they looked like the better team for at least a half. It’s basically in their DNA now. To add injury to insult, the Bolts now have to worry about the statuses of Justin Herbert and Corey Linsley. Unless the club receives horrible news, it should be fine for the next few weeks. Los Angeles has upcoming games against the Jaguars, Texans, and Browns.

MLB

  • White Sox 8 Guardians 2
    • It’s too little, too late, in terms of salvaging an extremely down year, but Yoan Moncada has been solid lately — just in time for Chicago’s playoff push. The White Sox will need continued boosts throughout the roster to catch Cleveland, though.
