NCAAF

  • Ohio 37, Miami (OH) 21
    • Ohio got off to a bit of a slow start this season, so naturally, I counted them out. I shouldn’t have done that, as the Bobcats are now 7-3 and hold the inside track to winning to MAC East. Kurtis Rourke is a really solid quarterback, as he went 25-35 for 362 yards and three touchdowns last night.
  • Toledo 28, Ball State 21
    • I mentioned Ohio as the favorite in the MAC East, and as of now, Toledo, at 5-1 in conference play, is the favorite in the MAC West. In a meeting between the two programs in Detroit for the conference championship game, I’d favor Toledo.

NCAAB

  • Providence 66, Rider 65
    • Providence was the nation’s luckiest team in 2022, and it looks like that may continue this season. Bryce Hopkins did nothing for Kentucky as a freshman last year, but he broke out last night, scoring 18 points for the Friars.
  • Purdue 84, Milwaukee 53
    • Purdue should be pretty solid this season, and it showed in this contest. Bringing Brandon Newman and Caleb Furst off the bench is a luxury.
  • Duquesne 91, Montana 63
    • This was an impressive victory, as the Dukes were favored by just 3.5 points. A somewhat hidden gem for Duquesne this year? Miami (OH) transfer Dae Dae Grant. Grant was a good player in the MAC, and he scored 25 points in this game for Duquesne.
  • South Carolina 80, South Carolina State 77
    • Lamont Paris’ debut should’ve gone better than this, as South Carolina State is one of college basketball’s worst teams. It appears the only thing worth monitoring for the Gamecocks is the progress of GG Jackson, who scored 18 points and grabbed 10 boards yesterday.
