  • Five-star WR Jeremiah Smith commits to Ohio State
    • Under Ryan Day, and with Brian Hartline as wide receiver coach, the Buckeyes have recruited wide receivers at an unbelievable, and perhaps unsustainable level. Smith, the No. 2 player in the class of 2024, will join a jumble of talented pass catchers older than him in Columbus. Also, Smith will team up with Dylan Raiola, 2024’s No. 1 recruit, to form a deadly aerial duo.
  • Mississippi State hires Zach Arnett to head coach
    • In wake of former head coach Mike Leach’s tragic passing, the Bulldogs needed stability. Arnett is a great choice for that, as he’ll be promoted from his defensive coordinator position. An outside hire wouldn’t have made much sense in this instance, so I like the move.

  • Giants sign SS Carlos Correa to 13-year, $350M contract
    • This is obviously a steep price for Correa, but in this particular market, the deal isn’t too surprising. Correa isn’t a superstar, but he’s an awesome player, and should prove worth this contract as long as he doesn’t regress too much at an early age. At this point, the Giants look solid on paper, but it remains to be seen if they can compete with the Dodgers or Padres in the NL West. Overall, it’s nice for San Francisco that it was able to obtain a talent like Correa.

  • Dodgers sign SP Noah Syndergaard to one-year, $13M contract
    • Syndergaard only getting a one-year deal makes sense considering his recent durability concerns. If he stays healthy, the 30-year-old should be a nice rotation piece for Los Angeles. That’s a big if, though, as Syndergaard made just two combined starts in 2020 and 2021.
