- Braves sign C Sean Murphy to six-year, $73M extension
- Most extensions inked by players prior to reaching free agency are advantageous for the clubs handing them out. Sure, the players also receive financial security and generational wealth, but it’s pretty hard for an extension like this one to blow up in a team’s face. Barring any unforeseen regression by Murphy, this deal should work out great for Atlanta, as Murphy is one of baseball’s top catchers at just 28-years-old.

- Marlins sign 2B Jean Segura to two-year, $17M contract
- The Marlins face a tall task in competing in a loaded NL East, and I have doubts Segura changes the club’s calculus for 2023 very much. Still, Segura is a solid middle infielder, and this deal presents good value for Miami. At the very worst, Segura could become a tradeable asset for the Fish if the team fails to contend.
