  • Smith is a well-respected coach, but he felt like a placeholder for this position since the moment he was hired. Now, possessing the No. 2 overall pick, Houston should pivot to prioritizing hiring an offensive-minded coach that can help mold whichever signal-caller the organization selects early in the upcoming draft. I wouldn’t expect this to be a desirable job, though, as Houston will now have four coaches in four years. The opposite of stability.
