NCAAB
- Connecticut 87, Providence 69
- The Huskies went through a pretty big swoon early on in Big East play, but after winning five of its past six games, Connecticut may be back to its early season form. The top of the Big East is strong this year, and Marquette is currently playing the best basketball of anyone in the league, but the Huskies may still be the conference’s best team. Connecticut doesn’t have a weak link in its starting five. This league’s tournament at Madison Square Garden next month should be must watch.
- UNC Asheville 80, Charleston Southern 62
- It would be a major disappointment if UNC Asheville isn’t the Big South’s representative in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs are now 15-2 in league play and are led by Drew Pember and Tajion Jones, an excellent scoring duo.
- Boston College 63, Virginia 48
- This is a horrible loss for the Cavaliers, one that could eliminate their chances of receiving a 2 seed for the NCAA Tournament. Ben Vander Plas had just seven points in this contest, and hasn’t been quite as good as I expected for Virginia this year after coming in as a transfer from Ohio. In the end, Virginia really had no chance in this game due to its starting perimeter players shooting a combined 7-29.
- Cincinnati 88, Temple 83
- Temple has been a letdown since defeating Houston. The Owls have lost four of their last five. At least Damian Dunn continues to shine, as the guard scored 34 points yesterday.
- Vermont 81, Binghampon 70
- After starting 2-2 in America East play, Vermont has been rolling, winning 10 in a row. This probably isn’t John Becker’s best team, but the Catamounts still have a solid chance to make the NCAA Tournament.
