NBA

  • Knicks 115, Wizards 109
    • I’m not sure what was going on with Julius Randle last season, but he’s been a completely different player during this campaign — even better than his 2021 self. The 28-year-old scored 46 points in this contest, picking up the slack left by Jalen Brunson and his 6-20 performance.
    • Bradley Beal’s contract isn’t going to age well. With a 2027 player option, the Washington guard will be making over $57 million four years from now. That’s not great, as Beal scored just 16 points in this game. To be fair, Beal has been efficient as a scorer this season, but he’s not the same guy he was several years back.
  • Hawks 136, Cavaliers 119
    • Perhaps firing Nate McMillan was the spark the Hawks needed. The rejuvenated Hawks were a different team yesterday, especially in the backcourt. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray lit the Cavaliers up for a combined 59 points last night.
    • The Cavaliers, after a hot streak, need to get it together or they’ll find themselves in the Play-In Tournament yet again.

NCAAB

  • Ole Miss fires head coach Kermit Davis
    • This move was a bit overdue. Davis had a good first year in Oxford, going 20-13 with an NCAA Tournament appearance, but the trajectory for his program was down following that. The Rebels’ job isn’t a great one, as Ole Miss is more of a football school, but the program should still have its choice of some decent candidates.
