  • Penn State hires Mike Rhoades as head coach
    • Losing Micah Shrewsberry to Notre Dame was a blow to the Nittany Lions, but Rhoades is about as good of a replacement as Penn State could’ve asked for. In fact, I wasn’t even completely sure Rhoades would be willing to make the move from VCU to State College, but in the end, money talks. To make matters even better for Penn State, Rhoades has ties to the area, which should benefit the Nittany Lions in local and regional recruiting. This hire is a win for Penn State.

  • South Florida hires Amir Abdur-Rahim as head coach
    • Abdur-Rahim did an incredible job turning around a nearly dead Kennesaw State program over the past few seasons, making him a strong choice for the job that awaits him in Tampa. The Owls finished 26-9 in 2023, an impressive mark, but Abdur-Rahim won just 19 games in his first three years as Kennesaw State’s head man, adding some risk to this decision by South Florida. Regardless, this should energize Bulls fans.

  • Temple hires Adam Fisher as head coach
    • Fisher is unproven as head coach, but he’s relatively young and has already found success as a lead assistant at the power conference level. I don’t think Aaron McKie necessarily did a bad job with the Owls, but perhaps Fisher offers more upside on the sidelines. It’ll be interesting to see how this move works out, as Temple is still chasing the heights it reached under John Chaney and even Fran Dunphy.
