  • Five-star TE Duce Robinson commits to USC
    • Robinson, the No. 17 recruit in 2023, joins an absolutely loaded offensive skill position class for the Trojans. While this haul is impressive, until the trenches and defensive side of the ball get improved, Lincoln Riley’s USC program will fail to truly contend for national titles.

NBA

  • Celtics 140, Bucks 99
    • The Celtics’ loss to the Wizards on Tuesday was clearly an aberration. Boston is beyond tough to defeat when Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both explode, and that’s what occurred in this contest, as the wing duo combined for 70 points.
    • The Bucks might be a bit overrated. One game is a terrible sample size, but Milwaukee ranks just sixth in net rating despite having the association’s best record. After a 51-point explosion on Wednesday, Jrue Holiday recorded just six points yesterday.
  • Pelicans 107, Nuggets 88
    • The Pelicans are in a massive fight for a playoff spot, so it’s important for the club to grab any win that’s available. With Nikola Jokic out for Denver, this game was certainly up for grabs. With the status of Zion Williamson uncertain, New Orleans needs for Brandon Ingram to carry a heavy load. The small forward did that yesterday, posting 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.
    • Would the Nuggets even be a playoff team without Nikola Jokic? Probably not. At least promising reserves Bruce Brown and Christian Braun played well in this game, combining for 30 points.

  • George Mason hires Tony Skinn as head coach
    • There’s plenty of uncertainty surrounding this hire. Skinn has never been a head coach, although he’s been an assistant at three separate power conference programs. The 40-year-old was a part of George Mason’s 2006 Final Four team, which surely will endear him to the fanbase, but this is a questionable hire.

MLB

  • Braves 7, Nationals 2
    • In a top-heavy National League, strong teams such as the Braves need to capitalize versus lesser opponents such as the Nationals. Atlanta did that yesterday. Unfortunately, losing Max Fried to a likely short-term injury was the price.
    • Joey Meneses can hit. The late bloomer went 2-5 in this game with an RBI.
  • Yankees 5, Giants 0
    • Aaron Judge probably won’t smack 62 home runs again in 2023, but he did hit one yesterday. The best hitter in baseball will likely hit at least 50 long balls, though, boosting a solid Yankees team. Gerrit Cole is phenomenal. New York’s ace tossed 11 strikeouts in this tilt, while also allowing zero runs.
    • Sure, it was in defeat, but Logan Webb had a nice season debut, striking out 12 Yankees.
  • Orioles 10, Red Sox 9
    • Adley Rutschman may already be a stud. The talented catcher went 5-5 with one home run and four RBIs in this game. In addition, to Rutschman’s explosion, the Orioles stole five bases. I’m a fan of MLB’s decision to widen the bases.
