Dodgers receive: Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly
White Sox receive: Trayce Thompson and two prospects

This trade is a bit puzzling for the Dodgers. Lynn is an accomplished starter, but he’s been just plain bad in 2023, and Kelly hasn’t been much better. Surrendering Trayce Thompson doesn’t hurt Los Angeles one bit, but Nick Nastrini, one of the prospects in the deal, is worth more than two struggling veterans.

The White Sox seem to be tearing it all down, so it’s smart of the club to deal Lynn and Kelly. As mentioned above, adding Nastrini is a good return.
