The idea of Isaiah Simmons ended up being much better than the actual impact of Isaiah Simmons for the Cardinals. This offseason, Arizona officially moved Simmons to safety after declining his fifth-year option, but that decision didn’t yield positive results, so the team is moving on. A seventh-round pick is a light return, but it allows the Cardinals to move off the salary of the former No. 8 overall pick and create more playing time for some of the team’s younger defenders.

The Giants are a good fit for Simmons, as New York has multiple starters in its back seven that could be upgraded. At the price of a seventh-round pick, the risk is warranted for New York.
