Duke 28, Clemson 7
Duke defeating Clemson in this game wasn’t unfeasible, but I doubt anyone foresaw a blowout of this magnitude. Sure, Clemson made some critical mistakes, but Duke didn’t play a perfectly clean game, either. The passing numbers (17-33 for 175 yards) don’t tell nearly the whole story of how dangerous Riley Leonard was in this game for the Blue Devils. There’s a good chance that Duke is 4-0 when Notre Dame comes to Durham on September 30th. Buckle up.
The hype received by Cade Klubnik entering this season felt unwarranted. If last night was any indication, Klubnik may not be what many believed him to be, as the quarterback was just 27-43 for 209 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Clemson ran the ball fairly well last night, but that was about it. The receivers struggled to get separation. The tackles, particularly Blake Miller, struggled to protect. The defensive backs struggled to tackle.
One loss isn’t enough to eliminate a team from the College Football Playoff discussion, but losing by 21 to Duke is a bad sign for Clemson’s outlook this year.

It’s been a nightmarish season for Tim Anderson, as Anderson has seen both his on-base percentage and slugging percentage dip below .300. The White Sox hold a $14 million club option on the shortstop’s contract for 2024. If I were Chicago, I wouldn’t pick it up.
