Rams receive: 2026 conditional sixth-round pick
Vikings receive: Cam Akers and 2026 conditional seventh-round pick

It’s been quite a fall from grace for Akers, a former second-round selection. Even with his stock down, the former Ram may be able to help the Vikings’ rushing attack, which has struggled to this point. The swap of draft picks in this deal is pretty immaterial, so Akers’ impact, or lack thereof, in Minnesota will be the driving point in evaluating this trade down the road.

Browns sign RB Kareem Hunt to one-year, $4 million contract

This signing isn’t very surprising. The Browns and Hunt have familiarity with each other, and, of course, there’s a void in Cleveland’s backfield in wake of Nick Chubb’s season-ending knee injury. Hunt probably won’t be the lead dog at the running back position for the Browns — Jerome Ford will hold that title, — but Hunt should see plenty of playing time. Hunt’s efficiency dropped off in a big way last season, as the 28-year-old saw his yards per carry drop from 4.9 to 3.8, but this is still the right move for the Browns.

Phillies 6, Braves 5

The Braves have been going through a somewhat expected swoon for a team that locked up a postseason spot long ago. Atlanta, at 97-55, has lost six of its past 10 games. The Braves should probably develop some urgency, though, as the Dodgers are right on their heels for home-field advantage in the NL.
