Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs suffers torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season

Through two weeks, the Cowboys have looked like one of the best teams in the leagues, so losing a talented player like Diggs while in pursuit of a championship definitely stings. In place of Diggs, who recorded an interception last week, DaRon Bland and Jourdan Lewis will each likely see an uptick in snaps.

He’s been a productive player for several seasons now, but Yandy Diaz remains vastly underrated. Diaz reached base four times in this game, and has a .405 OPS on the year, good for the fifth-best mark in baseball.

The last week and a half of this season might be Jo Adell’s last chance, at least as an Angel, to prove himself at the major league level. If yesterday was any indication, Adell is making a solid impression, as the outfielder went 2-for-3 with a home run.

Brewers 6, Cardinals 0

These Brewers know how to win. Despite less than stellar underlying metrics, Milwaukee is now 21 games over .500 and has the NL Central all but sealed up. The wild card series between the Brewers and whichever club secures the NL’s sixth seed should be interesting.

A lot has gone wrong for the Cardinals in 2023, one thing being Miles Mikolas’ performance. After losing and allowing five earned runs in this game, Mikolas dropped to 7-13 with a 4.95 ERA. At 35, it’s uncertain that the starter will be able to bounce back.
