LSU 35, Wisconsin 31
Even without Jayden Daniels, LSU probably thought it would have an easier time with Wisconsin than this score indicated. Thankfully for the Tigers, wide receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas decided not to opt-out of this game, which was probably the difference. Moving forward without Daniels, generating points won’t seem as effortless, but Brian Kelly should be encouraged by how Daniels’ successor, Garrett Nussmeier, played yesterday. The sophomore signal-caller went 31-for-45 for 395 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
Wisconsin’s offense has been at its best this season with Tanner Mordecai running the show, and this contest was no exception. In the losing effort, the senior was 27-for-40 for 378 yards and three scores. Unfortunately for the Badgers, this wasn’t a standard performance on the defensive side of the ball, surrendering nearly 500 yards.
2024 five-star DL Dominick McKinley flips commitment from Texas A&M to LSU
McKinley is precisely the type of recruit LSU has found success with in the past. Defensive lineman? Check. Hails from the state of Louisiana? Check. The Tigers didn’t put forth a great performance on defense in 2023, but adding McKinley, the No. 27 prospect for 2024, should help matters on that side of the ball.
It’s not a surprise McKinley flipped his commitment away from the Aggies, but the program has lost a great deal of talent since firing Jimbo Fisher. Mike Elko needs to right the ship in College Station.
