Steelers hire Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator

Smith took his fair share of heat as the Falcons’ head coach, but he did an excellent job as the Titans’ offensive coordinator in 2019 and 2020. Returning to that same role in Pittsburgh, Smith is set up with similar personnel and overall organizational philosophy. This isn’t a sexy hire, but the fit here is snug, and I’d be surprised if the Steelers’ offense didn’t improve under Smith.

Blue Jays sign 3B Justin Turner to one-year, $13 million contract

Toronto has been chasing bats all winter, and it’s finally found one in Turner. The 39-year-old will probably slot in at designated hitter for the Blue Jays, and still has some juice left in the tank, as evidenced by Turner driving in a career-high 96 runs in 2023. The always competitive AL East should be no different this season, but Toronto is well-equipped to compete.
