Patriots sign S Kyle Dugger to four-year, $58 million contract

Dugger is already 28, so there’s some risk baked into this deal given that the safety will be well into his 30s when it expires. That small risk is outweighed by the affordable nature of this contract. Under Jerod Mayo, New England is best served building up its defense as it searches for and develops its quarterback of the future. Signing Dugger fits into that plan, and there’s now a solid chance the safety ends up a Patriot for life.
