Dolphins sign WR Odell Beckham to one-year, $8.25 million contract
This contract is incentive-based and could be worth less than the amount listed. The Ravens overpaid for Beckham’s services last season, but the Dolphins are avoiding the same mistake by making Beckham earn all of the money this pact has to offer. Beckham isn’t even close to the receiver he was at his peak — he hasn’t eclipsed 600 receiving yards since 2019 — but he still shows flashes of talent every now and then. The 31-year-old has a shot to become Miami’s No. 3 wideout behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Bills sign WR Chase Claypool to one-year contract
Terms for this deal haven’t been disclosed, but I’d imagine it’s a cheap one for Buffalo. After a successful first two seasons as a pro, Claypool has fallen off a cliff as a player, but there’s always a microscopic chance he rediscovers that form, making this a good bet for the receiver-needy Bills.

Lakers fire head coach Darvin Ham
Despite making the Western Conference Finals in 2023, Ham didn’t do a great job with the Lakers, but he was far from being the franchise’s biggest problem. The roster was poorly constructed, and that falls on general manager Rob Pelinka. For whatever reason, Pelinka seems to have a stronghold on his job, so Los Angeles is likely to continue to be flawed in the coming years. The Lakers are a massive brand and will always be a free agent destination, so this remains a good job, but Jeanie Buss and Pelinka will need to make the right hire.

Duke transfer PF Sean Stewart commits to Ohio State
Following Felix Oxpara’s unexpected departure and subsequent move to Tennessee, the Buckeyes needed additional depth up front. Stewart, despite being at the backend of Jon Scheyer’s rotation at Duke, should be a big contributor for Ohio State. The power forward and former five-star recruit averaged just 2.6 points per game in 2024, but I’d bet on that at least doubling in Columbus next season.
