2025 four-star S Kainoa Winston commits to Michigan

Michigan has been lagging on the recruiting trail since Sherrone Moore was promoted to head coach, so receiving Winston’s pledge is a nice boost for the Wolverines. Winston, the No. 88 player for 2025, instantly becomes arguably the best player in Michigan’s 40th-ranked class.

Illinois transfer PF Coleman Hawkins commits to Kansas State

The Bruce Weber pipeline from Champaign to Manhattan is alive and well. Jerome Tang and the Wildcats have fared well in the portal this offseason, snaring eight players, and should be better next season than the 19-15 team they were in 2024.

I’ve always felt the idea of Coleman Hawkins — a tall, athletic forward with range — was better than the actual player, but the former Illinois starter took a leap last year, especially as a shooter. Hawkins should be a crucial piece for a Kansas State program desperate to rediscover its 2023 magic.
