Thunder C Isaiah Hartenstein out for five-to-six weeks with left hand fracture
Hartenstein, inked to a three-year, $87 million contract, was the Thunder’s most prominent addition this offseason, but his Oklahoma City debut will have to wait. In the meantime, Chet Holmgren will play as a full-time center, an arrangement that’ll surely change once the Hartenstein enters the rotation. Look for Jaylin Williams, if healthy, and potentially Ousmane Dieng to see more minutes due to this injury.

Virginia head coach Tony Bennett retires
This news came out of the blue. I expected Bennett, just 55, to coach at Virginia for at least another decade, but like Jay Wright, the championship-winning head coach is walking away. For Bennett, though, it’s not a bad time to retire. Forget all the changes across college athletics — that’s a much larger discussion — Virginia is a program in decline. Bennett is getting out at the right time, preserving his legacy, but also hurting his 2024-25 team in the process.
