Cowboys G Zack Martin out for season with ankle injury

If this is it for the 34-year-old, it was an incredible run. Drafted in the first round of the 2014 draft, Martin was named first-team All-Pro seven times, anchoring multiple elite offensive lines for the Cowboys. Martin’s play regressed some this season, but he has a Hall of Fame case.

Bengals LB Logan Wilson out for season with knee injury

Barring a miracle, the season is over for the crumbling Bengals at 4-8 — a shocking statement considering the team’s preseason expectations and performance of the passing offense. The obvious culprit for Cincinnati’s record is its defense, a unit that’s struggled in just about every way possible. Thus, losing the second-best player from that side of the ball certainly won’t help matters.

The 28-year-old Wilson was having yet another strong season, particularly as a run defender. The 2020 third-round selection recorded 104 tackles and two forced fumbles on the year. Akeem Davis-Gaither will step in for Wilson, so expect a major drop-off in play for the Bengals at inside linebacker.

Athletics sign SP Luis Severino to three-year, $67 million contract

Given their relocation status, the Athletics were going to have to overpay to land free agents. This signing, however, isn’t much pricier than expected, given the starting pitching market. Severino isn’t the most consistent rotation piece, but he’s been useful when healthy. The 30-year-old should slot in near the top of the Athletics’ rotation in 2025. Severino finished 2024 with an 11-7 mark and a 3.91 ERA.
