Lakers receive: PF Dorian Finney-Smith and SG Shake Milton

Nets receive: PG D’Angelo Russell, SF Maxwell Lewis and three second-round picks

Amidst a rebuild, it’s been an active trade season for the Nets. This was naturally the next order of business for Brooklyn after trading Dennis Schroder to Golden State two weeks ago.

Despite an 18-13 mark, the Lakers need all sorts of help, and Finney-Smith can provide it. A long, rangy forward, the 31-year-old is a marksman from deep and capable of defending multiple positions. That defense, specifically, is where he’ll provide the most value for Los Angeles. Shake Milton, too, can contribute as a sporadic option offensively.

I expected the Nets to obtain a first-round selection in exchange for Finney-Smith, so kudos to Los Angeles for landing him for three second rounders. It appears the Nets view Russell as an asset, and at the very least, the 28-year-old can soak up the minutes previously held by Dennis Schroeder. Maxwell Lewis, however, is simply filler in this deal and shouldn’t be expected to move the needle.

Lakers Grade: A-

Nets Grade: D+
