South Carolina transfer QB Robby Ashford commits to Wake Forest
Ashford was a lot better in 2024 with South Carolina than he was from 2022-23 with Auburn, but that’s not saying much. While quarterbacking the Tigers, Ashford was dreadful, throwing nine touchdowns and nine interceptions across two seasons. After those two campaigns, the quarterback departed for Columbia, where there wasn’t much room to get worse.
Did things click last season for Ashford? He didn’t receive enough playing time to say either way, but he did throw for 324 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Limited action? Sure. But Ashford improved, and Wake Forest is betting big on that progress being real, as the senior has a legitimate shot to start for Jake Dickert’s program next season. That could be a disaster, but the Demon Deacons are surely excited to have landed the veteran signal-caller.
