Titans fire general manager Ran Carthon
Typically, it’s fair to afford general managers at least three seasons of roster building before deciding to move on. Drafts tend to a few years — at a minimum — to properly evaluate and those can make or break an executive’s tenure with a franchise. This situation is different, though, as the Titans were crashing into the ground under Carthon after just two seasons. A full reset is needed, and it should also include firing head coach Brian Callahan, though it appears he’ll survive for at least another year.
The biggest draw for this job’s next hire is, of course, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft. That’s always a flashy asset, but less so this year, where there’s no clear-cut top quarterback prospect. Therefore, the first giant decision facing Tennessee’s next general manager is whether to reach for a signal-caller or draft the best player available. That’s a discussion for April. For now, the Titans must find an executive willing to take this job with Brian Callahan still around.
