Browns promote Tommy Rees to offensive coordinator

Rees, 32, has been a fast riser through the coaching ranks, and he’s now landed his biggest job yet. Previously serving as the offensive coordinator at both Notre Dame and Alabama, Rees is used to having the talent advantage on his side. That won’t be the case early on in Cleveland, as the Browns have a gaping hole at quarterback and needs at various offensive skill positions.

The question of who will be calling the offensive plays for the Browns hasn’t been answered yet, even with this hire. It’s likely to be head coach Kevin Stefanski, which would make Rees’ job more focused on game planning. He shouldn’t mind that, either, as this is currently a dead-end job, given the Browns’ lack of talent on offense.
