Patriots hire Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator

Once the Patriots hired Mike Vrabel as head coach, McDaniels became the heavy favorite to land this position. And why wouldn’t he be? This will mark McDaniels’ third stint as New England’s offensive coordinator, so he has experience on his side. He also benefits from familiarity, as McDaniels and Vrabel both hold ties to the Patriots — and the state of Ohio — so the two coaches should have a solid working relationship.

This job won’t be a walk in the park, at least not initially. New England’s offense, save for the quarterback position, is barren. That could benefit McDaniels, though, as he should be afforded ample time to get the unit functioning again.
