Rays receive: RP Alex Faedo

Tigers receive: C Enderson Delgado and cash

Faedo was recently designated for assignment, a roster move correspondent with the Tigers signing fellow reliever Tommy Kahnle. In the event of a club designating a player for assignment, it’s always smart — if possible — to trade the player, as opposed to releasing him. Therefore, Detroit made a good move here, securing a fringe top-50 prospect for the Rays in Delgado and cash.

Back to Faedo, the relief pitcher was solid across 37 appearences in 2024 for Detroit, pitching to a 3.61 ERA. The 29-year-old is out of minor-league options, so Tampa Bay will only reap benefits from this transaction if it keeps Faedo on its big-league roster. Regardless, this is a solid move.
