76ers receive: SG Jared Butler and four second-round picks
Wizards receive: PG Reggie Jackson and 2026 first-round pick
The Wizards are the winners of this trade from a pure asset perspective, but I understand the goal of each franchise. The 2026 first rounder, projected to fall in the back half of the round, is, of course, more valuable than the four second rounders. That’s a given, but for a team trying to win like the 76ers, adding assets is typically a good thing. Now, Philadelphia is armed to make a small trade or two with the extra second rounders.
The Wizards are opting for upside here. The players involved in this deal are on expiring contracts and thus mostly irrelevant, so the real discussion point is the 2026 first-round selection. The pick is of the less-favorable variety, meaning it probably won’t wind up in the lottery, but that’s OK. Washington is in position to add another valuable young piece down the road.

Heat receive: PG Davion Mitchell
Raptors receive: PF P.J. Tucker, second-round pick and cash
I see equal value in this transaction. Mitchell hasn’t lived up to the promise of being the No. 9 overall pick in 2021, but he’s still a tenacious guard defender. I’d say that’s worth a second-round selection and cash.
The Raptors’ trade for Brandon Ingram was mind-boggling; this move makes more sense. For a downtrodden club, adding a second-round pick in exchange for an upcoming restricted free agent in Mitchell is reasonable.

Pirates sign LF Tommy Pham to one-year, $4 million contract
I don’t get this signing. Pham, 36, is still levels above having to settle for a minor-league deal, but he’s suffering from legitimate age-related regression. The bat still plays for the outfielder, as evidenced by his .248 average and nine homers last year. The rest? Not so much, as Pham’s defense and speed have declined. The Pirates could’ve put this $4 million to better use.
