Jaguars hire James Gladstone as general manager
Jacksonville casted a wide — and I mean wide — net of candidates for this position, which is ironic considering former general manager Trent Baalke had such a stronghold within the organization. In the end though, Gladstone won out, and I think it was rightful. The former director of college scouting for the Rams is young, but Los Angeles’ recent drafts have been nothing short of great.
In the past two years alone, the Rams have selected Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Byron Young, Kobie Turner and, of course, Puka Nacua. Gladstone doesn’t deserve all of the credit for those picks, but he surely had something to do with at least some of them. The Jaguars have suffered from years — well, really since their inception — of poor drafting, so adding a decision maker like Gladstone could be monumental for the franchise.

Saints hire Brandon Staley as defensive coordinator
Staley has been a fast riser in the coaching ranks, going from the defensive coordinator at John Carroll in 2016 to the Chargers’ head coach in a five-year span. The 42-year-old wasn’t ready for an NFL head coaching job — and it showed — but that’s alright. For now, Staley is best served as a defensive coordinator, and he’ll get to work with Kellen Moore again. The two coached together with the Chargers prior to Staley getting fired. That chemistry should benefit Staley as he reverts back to coordinating a stop unit.
