Texans sign CB Derek Stingley to three-year, $90 million contract extension
Finally, a significant shift at the top of the cornerback market. Stingley’s payout still doesn’t approach the wacky recent figures of Ja’Marr Chase or Myles Garrett, but he’s now the NFL’s highest-paid corner by a good margin. Despite that, this is a fine deal for the Texans, as they lock in the 23-year-old for most of his prime.
Stingley posted 54 tackles and five interceptions in 2024, playing like one of the best at his position.

Eagles sign EDGE Azeez Ojulari to one-year, $4 million contract
Milton Williams and Josh Sweat will be sizeable losses for the Eagles, no matter how good the roster is. As a result, reinforcements were needed. Enter Ojulari. The 24-year-old is a bit worse than his sack totals indicate, but Philadelphia will probably get the most out of him. Also, it’s not like there isn’t room for Ojulari to improve, either, given his age and recent second round draft status.
On another positive note, Ojulari tallied six sacks in just 11 games last season for the Giants. He has 22 sacks over his four-year career.

Texans sign CB Ronald Darby to one-year, $2.5 million contract
What a day yesterday was for Houston’s cornerback room. Darby is aging at a bad position to be old, but the 31-year-old can still play — at least enough to generate value at this contractual rate. Darby made 46 tackles last season with the Jaguars.

Iona fires head coach Tobin Anderson
Huh? Unless something unfolded behind the scenes, I don’t understand the rationale here. The Gaels hired Anderson after he won an NCAA Tournament game with Farleigh Dickinson, and he produced decent results across two years in New Rochelle. This is puzzling.
