2026 five-star RB Savion Hiter commits to Michigan

I’ve debated whether to continue opining about college football and basketball commitments. Securing a pledge, especially one from an elite recruit, is hugely impactful for any program. However, decommitments happen so often now that many commitments feel flimsy. I’ll probably continue to cover these stories, but recruiting is as messy as ever.

Hiter already boasts an NFL-ready body, so his power-running style should fit perfectly in Michigan’s scheme. The five-star will likely spend a year playing behind Jordan Marshall, but it would be surprising if Hiter didn’t eventually star for the Wolverines.

Hiter is the No. 9 prospect for 2026.

Cubs 6, Brewers 4

At last, the Cubs’ offense flashed some life in this game. Interestingly enough, the main output came from Willi Castro and Owen Caissie, both of which weren’t on the team three weeks ago. Perhaps all along what Chicago needed was some fresh blood.

Castro and Caissie each homered yesterday. It was Caissies first of many career long balls. I wouldn’t be surprised if the outfielder hit 200 of them over his career.

Are the Brewers cooling down? It’s possible. After being challenged by the Reds over the weekend, Milwaukee is now even with the Cubs in this five-game set. Joey Ortiz’s struggles at the plate plagued the club yesterday, as the shortstop was 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position.

I’m writing this before the second game of the double header, a tilt that’s sure to be met by an electric crowd at Wrigley Field.
