Bucks sign SG A.J. Green to four-year, $45 million contract extension

Spacing is one of the most important ingredients for an effective NBA offense. It affords drivers room to operate, and in many cases, create open opportunities for shooters. In Milwaukee, it’s especially critical, as the Bucks — for now — roster one of the league’s best attackers in Giannis Antetokounmpo. The superstar is at his best rambling into helpless defenders, but even he can be stopped. The two-time MVP needs shot makers around him; Green has proven adept at that particular skill.

A 42.1% career shooter from three-point range, Green was a viable rotation player for Milwaukee last season. At 26, his confidence and experience should only expand, making him a valued contributor on the wing. The annual value of this pact is fair for the franchise, and Jon Horst shrewdly secured a fourth season.

Green posted 7.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game last season.
