Braves sign LF Jurickson Profar to three-year, $42 million contract
This time last offseason, Profar signed for just $1 million with the Padres, an admission — by team and player — that the end could be near for the veteran. What a difference a year makes. The 31-year-old had a career season in 2024, hitting .280 with 24 home runs and 85 RBIs. Now, Profar looks to be a medium-term piece for one of the best teams in baseball.
While it’s unrealistic to expect Profar to repeat his efforts from a year ago, he’ll still put the cherry on top of a dynamic Braves outfield with Ronald Acuna and Michael Harris. Profar will be relegated to left field — his glovework leaves much to be desired — but he can hit anywhere in Atlanta’s lineup.
The Braves — and everyone — will struggle to challenge the Dodgers this season, but Atlanta has as good a chance of taking out Los Angeles as anyone.
