Browns sign S Grant Delpit to three-year, $48 million contract extension
It’s been a busy week of business for the Browns’ front office. Training camp is underway, but that hasn’t stopped Cleveland from securing two stalwart defensive backs.
First, it was Denzel Ward. The Browns made him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history earlier this week with a two-year, $62.2 million extension. Now, Delpit cashes in, albeit at a lesser amount.
The agreements will help stabilize a subpar Cleveland roster. After trading Myles Garrett to the Rams, the Browns need all the talent they can get. However, the franchise overpaid — both for Ward and Delpit.
Delpit has been a fine starter since his rookie season. He has 451 career tackles in five years to go along with seven interceptions. The LSU product has never quite hit the high ceiling his status as a former Jim Thorpe Award winner would suggest, though. The Browns would’ve been better off going younger at safety, as the team has drafted well in recent years.
Delpit posted 89 tackles and one interception in 2025.
