(23) Missouri 38, Kansas 21

The Border War is one of the most underrated rivalries in college sports. It means the world to Missouri and Kansas fans, but it hasn’t consistently captivated the attention of the nation. The 2007 rendition, which ruined Kansas’ undefeated season, was one for the ages. Chase Daniel and Danario Alexander tortured the Jayhawks that night in Kansas City.

Yesterday’s contest wasn’t nearly as meaningful, though plenty of early-season momentum and bragging rights were at stake.

Austin Simmons had another good game for the Tigers, finishing 19-of-29 for 292 yards and three scores. Kansas could have a difficult time getting stops this year, but it was nonetheless a solid performance by Missouri — particularly in the second stanza.

Missouri faces Troy next, while Kansas faces Arizona State. The Jayhawks may be staring down a 1-2 start, especially if the Sun Devils challenge Texas A&M today.
