Orioles sign SP Kyle Bradish to five-year, $90 million contract extension

The Orioles continue to spend. Since David Rubenstein took over as majority owner in 2024, Baltimore’s payroll has spiked. The club’s annual player tab ran around $65 million earlier this decade, which ranked toward the bottom of MLB. Now, the Orioles’ payroll is regularly over $150 million, a much more competitive amount.

Keeping Bradish in tow will allow Baltimore to remain competitive. The 29-year-old faced elbow concerns in 2024, limiting him to eight starts that year and six last season. He’s healthy now, however, and pitching like it.

Bradish is just 6-9 this season, but boasts a 3.61 ERA. His advanced metrics have been less friendly, though the right-hander’s health is the most important factor. If Bradish continues making starts, it’s fair to consider him a mid-level starter, at worst.

Baltimore is doing the right things. It now needs its highly-paid and highly-touted players to perform. Bradish has done his part.
